B0004 Fireweed
Alaska

Fireweed is probably the best known flower in Alaska.  As the last flowers are blooming at the top of the stalk in late August, the earliest blooms turn to cotton.  When the fireweed turns to cotton, Alaskans say there are six weeks to winter.  This image depicts full cotton blooms.  Edition of 100.
