Early pioneers thought this tree caused a fever, since those living in the area where it grew contracted severe fevers. The swampy areas where fever trees grow support mosquitoes, which carry malaria, thus, the name, fever tree.  Elephants in Ngorongoro have not been poached and are fully aged with enormous tusks.  Edition of 100.
